Hard bass lines, catchy guitar riffs, adrenaline pumping drums, and a yelling vocalist whose voice just scratches your teen angst so good Amyl and The Sniffers are refreshing and vital to the punk seen as they make waves in both angst and positivity. Consisting of vocalist Amy Taylor (nicknamed "Amyl"), drummer Bryce Wilson, guitarist Declan Mehrtens, and bassist Gus Romer; it's refreshing to see a punk band making music about love and working on their worth; in so many ways it is addicting and gives us big push to wanting take initiative and better ourselves.
Their songs ‘Maggot’ and ‘Country’ perfectly encapsulate what it feels like to be aggressively head over heels for someone to the point you just want to punch something. ‘Guided by angels’ and ‘Big dreams’ describes what it feels like to know your worth and want to work on it to get to a better place in your life. This is a band worth checking out and keeping up to date with as it looks like they are one of the few that gets better as the years go by.
Nowadays, it seems modern music has lost it’s umph; lacking life in all the wrong ways. Amyl and the Sniffers seems to have an it factor that is both magnetizing and energizing. The front woman having the kind of star quality we only see once every few decades. While they’ve only been around for a few years they are making their way into the main stage where I am hoping they will be staying for a long time.
